FIAT 8V

Internship project, FIAT Style center, 1997.

Tutor: Peter Davis, Roberto Giolito.
During my compulsory intership I had the opportunity to live and experience for threemonths full time how life in a design center would be.
I had the chance to get lessons about sketching, presentation techniques, how to draw cars, participate to product development meetings and to learn a lot from amazing professionals as such as Peter Fassbender, Roberto Giolito and Luciano Bove.
As a styling exercise to practice the illustration techniques learnt during the internship, as such as pencil sketching and marker and pastels renderings, I tried to redesign a modern FIAT 8V.
The proposed New 8V is a sedan with luxury ambitions but compact size. Inspired to the 8V/6V from the '50s, from which takes the round headlights, the grille and the sportive feeling.
Retro Styling is limited to the attempt to get those classic and also classy brand elements, bound to this flagship model.
Bonnet and size are kept very compact, like it was in the original model.
Target user and owner is someone who is whealty but wants to drive himself his car, with no need for a large rear seat and enough space for his suitcase or golf bag. Someone who in a car seeks emotions, and emotional design like it was in the gloriuos cars of the '50s, like Lancia Aurelia B20 or Fiat 8V.
